We will make a courtesy call to your insurance company before your initial evaluation to check benefits. You may also check your benefits online.

After our evaluation, we will submit the visit claim to your insurance company. We are legally required to bill your insurance a confidential contracted rate that allows us to be “in-network” providers.

Your insurance company will process the claim and pay us a contracted rate. If you have not reached your deductible, or if insurance refuses to cover therapy for your child, you will be required to pay the remaining balance of our contracted rate. This process can take 2–4 weeks to complete. Acorn Children’s Therapy will send a bill via patient portal or mail once this is complete. Your insurance company will also send you an EOB (explanation of benefits) to show what percentage they have covered.

We are actively working on becoming in-network providers for multiple insurance companies. This can be a lengthy process, but we are committed to helping families use their benefits. If we are not yet credentialed with your insurance company, we recommend utilizing our cash rate ($250 for evaluations, $85 for visits), and we will provide you with the necessary paperwork to apply for reimbursement for the cost of therapy from your insurance company. We also recommend seeking information from the listed programs to assist in paying for therapy for families who qualify.

  1. Variety Club
  2. Small Steps in Speech
  3. UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (You do NOT have to be a UHC subscriber!)
In this instance, we recommend forgoing insurance benefits and utilizing our cash rate of $85 per visit. You will pay for each therapy visit at the time of visit, and we can provide you with a “superbill” if you wish to submit to insurance to apply toward your deductible. We also recommend reaching out to the listed programs to assist in paying for therapy for families who qualify.

Some insurance plans give subscribers a set number of visits for each therapy (OT, PT, Speech) per year. We do our best to schedule therapy for your child in order to meet goals and stay within the visit limits. In some cases we are able to submit documentation to support the need for additional visits.

If we are contracted as out of network for your insurance company, we will provide you with a “superbill,” which you can use to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company. This is usually done by mail or online through your insurance carrier. They will then pay a percentage of our contracted rate, and you will be responsible for the remaining portion. This is dependent on your individual policy benefits.

You may choose to forgo insurance benefits and pay per visit at our cash rate. Evaluations are $250 and visits are $85. We require payment at the time of service and are happy to provide you with receipts at each payment. Even if you choose to cash pay, we require a physician’s prescription in order to legally treat your child in the state of Missouri.
