Summer sessions—GROW with us!

Welcome to Acorn Children’s Therapy

At Acorn, we understand the profound difficulty of watching your child struggle. Our mission is to help family have more good days, achieve their goals, and witness the joy of growth.

Our Services

We use a multidisciplinary approach and consult with your child’s other providers (pediatrician, optometrist, psychologist, dietician, etc.). This helps ensure your child will have a consistent program of care.

Areas of Focus

Children process the world around them through play. All therapy at Acorn utilizes child-centered play and a child’s unique skills and interests to facilitate growth across the areas of focus.

Executive Functioning

The main areas of executive functioning are working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control.

Feeding

Successful mealtimes require oral motor skills, sensory processing, and strength and coordination.

Fine Motor

Fine motor is the use of the small muscles in the wrists, hands, and fingers to complete everyday tasks.

Language

Language therapy is broken into the language we receive (receptive) and the language we use (expressive).

Pediatric Pelvic Health

Coordination, alignment, constipation management, sensation urges, and potty training are included in pelvic health.

Gross Motor Skills

Gross motor uses large muscle groups to improve balance, alignment, coordination, range, and strength.

Emotional Regulation

Interpersonal situations require varying degrees of social pragmatics (such as independence) and emotional regulation (such as self-control).

Sensory

Sensory processing is the way we effectively use our senses to take in information and process it.

Speech

Speech therapy addresses oral motor skills, strength, and breathing to improve verbal communication.

Joy + Growth

“Aley and Jill have worked with my son the past 3 years on a weekly basis. I can’t begin to tell you the difference they have made with our son and family! They have given him the confidence and skills to enter kindergarten this fall. Our son is excited to visit them each week and always walks away with a smile.”
