Area of Focus: Fine Motor

Fine motor is the use of the small muscles in the wrists, hands, and fingers to complete everyday tasks. This includes fastening buttons, opening containers, playing with toys, scissor skills, and handwriting. Fine motor skills also involve the assessment of pressure and acuity of movements that use the upper extremities.

Fine motor skills are only possible with the integration of core strength, shoulder stability, and visual skills. At Acorn Children’s Therapy, we work to address the underlying skills needed to promote good fine motor abilities.
