Area of Focus: Social Skills
Navigating social situations and engaging in age-appropriate ways can be challenging for some children. At Acorn Children’s Therapy, an OT will build a personalized growth plan that focuses on recognizing both verbal and non-verbal social cues, improving peer interactions and conversational exchanges, and working on age-appropriate play skills.
Common diagnosis such as torticollis, hypotonia, dysplasia, and developmental disorders can affect gross motor skills in children. Our therapists work on large muscle groups to improve balance, alignment, coordination, range of motion, and strength. Movement helps children learn and grow, so we strive to use a multidisciplinary approach to help refine gross motor skills to improve feeding, fine motor, and school skills.
